November 22, 2017 – November 23, 2017 all-day
Milan, Italy

opencareOpen Care & WeMake showcase their citizen engagement trial results.

The concept of care is undergoing transformation so is the welfare state. The aging population, the changed composition of families, the migration flows are decisively influencing social needs, as well as the way in which one takes care of each other. Fluid and interconnected urban ecosystems can multiply forms of action and activate subjects so far unengaged with the “system” of care. The conference will discuss with Makerspaces, Fablabs and other protagonists of the 4th Industrial Revolution how they can play a more central role.

New technologies are able to fundamentally innovate care solutions for citizens, but under what conditions? What is the socio-economic impact of innovation on health care? Are interaction models based on co-design and customization sustainable? Come join the debate with academics, philanthropic foundations and companies that invest in social innovation platforms to find out strengths and weaknesses of new technology-based health solutions. Loretta Anania, EC project officer, relates EU social innovation policy and the CAPS legacy to the new Next Generation Initiative of DG CONNECT.

This even is hosted by the City of Milan.
